Dubai – Mubasher: Ducab HV, a subsidiary of Ducab Group, has been awarded a contract to supply and install high-voltage cable for the fifth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park (MBR Solar Park), the largest single-site solar park in the world based on the independent power producer model.

The announcement came ahead of the company’s participation at WETEX 2020, a carbon-free virtual event, according to a statement on Sunday.

The Dubai-based manufacturer of cables and cabling products will be supporting Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), which is building the MBR Solar Park, in implementing this project to achieve the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 which aims to provide 75% of Dubai’s total power production from clean energy by 2050.

The fifth phase of the MBR Solar Park includes about 275 kilometres (km) of cable, along with the provision of the relevant accessories and terminations.

The project will be implemented over three plots of 300 megawatts (MW) each, making it one of the world’s highest cost-effective solar parks.

Ducab HV will also be responsible for cable installation as the cable subcontractor chosen by Shanghai Electric of China.

The latest project award comes after Ducab HV energised the full turnkey 132 kilovolt (kV) system for the third phase of the MBR Solar Park.
